A Doctor's Advice

A worried woman went to her gynecologist and said, “Doctor, I have a serious problem and desperately need your help! My baby is not even 1 yr. old and I'm pregnant again. I don't want kids so close together.”

So the doctor said, “Ok, and what do you want me to do?”

She said, “I want you to end my pregnancy, and I'm counting on your help with this.”

The doctor thought for a little, and after some silence he said to the lady, “I think I have a better solution for your problem. It's less dangerous for you too.”

She smiled, thinking that the doctor was going to accept her request.
Then he continued, “You see, in order for you not to have to take care of 2 babies at the same time, let's kill the one in your arms. This way, you could rest some before the other one is born. If we're going to kill one of them, it doesn't matter which one it is. There would be no risk for your body if you chose the one in your arms.”

The lady was horrified and said, “No doctor! How terrible! It's a crime to kill a child!”

”I agree,” the doctor replied. “But you seemed to be ok with it, so I thought maybe that was the best solution.” The doctor smiled, realizing that he had made his point. He convinced the mom that there is no difference in killing a child that's already been born and one that's still in the womb. The crime is the same!

A Big God!

A BIG GOD

This is a story about a little girl who, on the way home from church, turned to her mother and said, "Mommy, the Preacher's sermon this morning confused me."

The mother said, "Oh! Why is that?"

The girl replied, "Well, he said that God is bigger than we are. Is that true?"

"Yes, that's true," the mother replied.

"He also said that God lives within us. Is that true too?"

Again the mother replied, "Yes."

"Well," said the girl. "If God is bigger than us and He lives in us, wouldn't He show through?"

Read this again....... .. and . . . Think.. ...

Economics 101

Economics 101

Suppose that every day, ten men (or women) go out for cokes, and suppose, hypothetically, the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four (the poorest) would pay nothing.The fifth would pay $1.The sixth would pay $3.The seventh would pay $7.The eighth would pay $12.The ninth would pay $18.The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do. The ten people drank at the fountain every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. 'Since you are all such good customers, he said, 'I'm going to reduce the cost of your cokes by $20. Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six people - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get their 'fair share?' They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth person and the sixth person would each end up being paid to drink their coke. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each person's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay!

And so:

The fifth person, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
Thesixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before.
And the first four continuedto drink for free.

But once outside the restaurant, the patrons began to compare their savings.
'I only got a dollar out of the $20,'declared the sixth person.
They pointed to the tenth person,' but they got $10!'
'Yeah, that's right,' exclaimed the fifth person.
'I only saved a dollar,too. It's unfair that they got ten times more than I!'
'That's true!!' shouted the seventh person.
'Why should they get $10 back when I got only two?
The wealthy get all the breaks!
''Wait a minute,' yelled the first four people in unison. 'We didn't getanything at all.
The system exploits the poor!'

The nine people surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth didn't show up for drinks, so the nine satdown and had cokes without number 10.

But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works.
The people who PAY the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction.

Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore.
In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

For those who understand, no explanation is needed.
For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.

Food for Thought

“Art is science made clear.”Wilson Mizner
~~~~~~~```
An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen. The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, “Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly.”
The other man said, “What is the name of the restaurant?” The first man thought and thought and finally said, “What is the name of that flower you give to someone you love?You know – The one that's red and has thorns.” “Do you mean a rose?”
“Yes, that's the one,” replied the man. He then turned towards the kitchen and yelled, “Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?”
Hmmmmm!
